Moldovan officers take over experience of American colleagues in crisis situations management

Chisinau, 12 June /MOLDPRES/ - A team of officers of the Defence Ministry and Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service participate, as observers, in the Vigilant Catamount exercise, held in North Carolina, the USA.

According to a press release by the public relations service at the Defence Ministry, Vigilant Catamount is an exercise of training for emergency situations, conceived to train and assess competences, experience and the level of cooperation of civil agencies with the strength of the North Carolina National Guard. The ability to manage the full cycle of response in situations of natural and man-caused catastrophes is tested within the exercise.    

On the period of stay in North Carolina, the Moldovan officers have planned visits to diverse military objects and civil services, including the centre for unified operations. The officers there will be informed about the carrying out of civil and military procedures of response to different incidents and Control and Crowd and Revolts.   

The fact-collecting visit fits into the bilateral military collaboration between Moldova and the USA in the military sector and is aimed at strengthening the national capacities for the management of crisis situations.  

The cooperation between the North Carolina National Guard and Moldova started in April 1999, with more social, military and other projects implemented so far. In particular, a medical centre was constructed for a care home from the central Straseni town, several medical assistance points were built in more Moldovan settlements, etc. during the bilateral cooperation.
