Moldovan deputy premier meets experts of Fund for Conflict Prevention and Security Support

Chisinau, 13 June /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Balan on 12 June received the regional programme manager (for Moldova, Caucasus and Belarus) of the Fund for Conflict Prevention and Security Support, Rob Gordon, accompanied by the regional programme officer at the same institution, Nino Vadacaria, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.     

The subject of the discussions was focused on Transnistria-related issues: the latest developments in the settlement process, priority topics on the agenda of talks, role of mediators and international observers, as well as prospects of advancement in the settlement of up-to-date problems faced by the residents from both banks of Dniester.   

Also, Gheorghe Balan informed the experts about the positive actions and projects on development implemented by Moldova’s authorities and international partners, meant to back the population and business environment from the settlements placed in the Security Zone and Moldova’s eastern district.   

The participants in the meeting tackled possibilities of strengthening the interaction in implementing programmes promoted in the activity line of the British Embassy in Chisinau and the goal of which is ensure human rights in the Transnistrian region, developing partnership at the level of business people, replicating the positive experience of other states in diverse relevant aspects (for instance, trainings for young professionals involved in mediation processes, carrying out post-conflict reconstruction programmes, establishing platforms of cooperation between negotiators Georgia – Moldova, etc.)
