Japan to provide Moldova with 4.8 million dollars for development of conservation agriculture

Chisinau, 15 June /MOLDPRES/- Moldova will receive from Japan a 4.8-million dollar-grant for the development of conservation agriculture, according to an agreement that will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 16 June.
Under the grant agreement on the implementation of the project “Conservation Agriculture – Development of a Sustainable Soil Management System in Moldova”, the 4.8-million dollar-grant will be used for procurement of agricultural machinery and equipment.
The project will be managed by the current Implementation and Management Unit of the 2KR Food Production Project. The implementation period will be two years from the entry into force of the agreement – March this year.
Conservation agriculture is a priority of the country, under the National Strategy for Agricultural and Rural Development for 2014-2020. This requires the development of sustainable agriculture, adapted to climate change, by applying practices that protect and improve soil fertility.
