New working meeting to address waste problem held at Moldovan government

Chisinau, 15 June /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Secretary General of the Government Valentin Guznac today held a working meeting with the participation of decision-makers and representatives of Bubuieci village to settle waste problem, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Guznac reiterated the government’s commitment to monitor the waste disposal process at the Bubuieci mine, noting the competencies of the central and local public authorities. Also, he asked the officials to fully involve in the implementation of the provisions of the report signed on 5 June 2017, following an operative meeting convened by Prime Minister with the participation of the decision-makers and group of people delegated by residents of Bubuieci village.
The participants discussed the actions that have been and will be taken to solve all problems related to forwarding transporting solid household waste from Chisinau to another polygon. Thus, on 16 June 2017, the Chisinau city hall will organize a tender for the purchase of the equipment for the treatment plant, which will be attended by representatives of the initiative group. Subsequently, actions for conservation and recultivation of mine deposits will be considered and implemented in accordance with the requirements of the environmental legislation.
Following an inspection carried out by the Environment Ministry through the State Ecological Inspectorate, along with the representatives of the initiative group, several irregularities as regards the observance of environmental legislation have been identified at the municipal waste landfill on Uzinelor Street. As a result, fines and preventive measures were applied.
Finally, the sides decided to convene next week in a new reporting and monitoring meeting on identified problems.
