Chisinau, 15 June /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip discussed with business representatives the actions needed to undertake by the authorities to avoid double certification of animal origin products imported in Moldova, today. The talks took place during the Economic Council meeting with the Prime Minister, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The business associations’ representatives said that a major problem faced by economic agents importing products in Moldova was the non-recognition of veterinary certificates issued by European authorities. Similarly, it is with the models of certificates issued by other coordinated third countries, which leads to additional waste of time and money for entrepreneurs.
In this context, Prime Minister Pavel Filip mentioned that the issue was complex and that all elements, including measures to protect domestic producers, had to be taken into account. Also, the head of the Executive requested the matter to be examined on the Economic Council platform and the proposals for legislative and normative changes that needed to be promoted to be elaborated.
"We have to be absolutely sure that Moldova’s rules and exigencies are not violated. Our aim is to ensure the quality and safety of food to citizens, but not to issue certificates. We have to put the consumer at the head of the table and ensure a fair competition on the market," said Pavel Filip.
Another issue discussed at the meeting was the management of waste generated in the processing of animal products and the management of expired products. The businessmen pointed out that in Moldova, there was not a developed infrastructure for destroying debris, being only one company specialized in such processes, which does not deal with the high volume of work. Thus, economic agents encounter difficulties in their work.
The prime minister asked the entrepreneurs, together with the state authorities’ representatives, to come up with concrete solutions to this problem within two weeks.
During the meeting, business community representatives appreciated the actions taken by the Executive to support the business environment and said they were open to dialogue and decided to be actively involved in developing a legislative framework to support the development of the business environment.
