Winners of best innovative idea contest nominated in Moldova

Chisinau, 16 June /MOLDPRES/ – More than 30 innovative business ideas were presented at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM) in contest "The Best Innovative Idea", organized on 15 June by host institution, Agency for Innovation and Technology Transfer (AITT), State Agency for Intellectual Property (AGEPI) and Organization for Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (ODIMM).

The ASM’s first vice President, Ion Tighineanu, said that the purpose of the  contest was to support and promote the young people’s ideas who want to open their own business, thus contributing to Moldova’s social and economic development, as well as to identify the most viable business idea in innovation field.

At the beginning of the event, AGEPI General Director Lilia Bolocan said that, because competitiveness was a quality guarantee of any company, AGEPI proposed together with ASM, AITT and ODIMM to support that competition, so that to create a networking and connection platform. "AGEPI is competent to protect intellectual property, and most of the innovative ideas presented in the contest are about potential inventions, industrial designs, etc. We expect AGEPI to protect your inventions," emphasized Lilia Bolocan.

Then, the young people had 5 minutes to present the innovative business idea to the jury.

The best innovative ideas were demonstrated by Dorin Puscasu and Cristian Rusu. The young people presented the first public cloud platform in Moldova, earning the big prize 10,000 lei. Also, the winners were automatically enrolled in the technology transfer projects, obtaining the chance to receive one million lei financing for implementation of the mentioned innovative business idea.

The second place was given to Cristiana Grati for the idea of ​​developing a children book with interactive elements for the development of cognitive skills. Cristiana got a 7,000 lei prize.

Denis Rosca got the third place for the idea of ​​a scholarship program for pupils and students from all over the world. The winner of the third place took a prize worth 5,000 lei.

In order to support and stimulate innovative young people, the State Intellectual Property Agency offered a special mention to Nadejdei Cervinscaia for the idea of ​​a "U-cook 2.Moldova" phone application. Thus, AGEPI deputy general manager, Andrei Popa, handed over the AGEPI diploma, accompanied by a prize worth 3,000 lei.

The contest was attended by students, master students, doctoral students and young people aged 18-35 who had an innovative business idea in the following areas: innovative materials, technologies and products; information technologies; energy efficiency and capitalization of renewable energy sources; biomedicine and health; biotechnologies and food industry.
