Moldova on position 54 in global innovation Index ranking

Chisinau, 16 June /MOLDPRES/ – Moldova ranks 54th out of 128 states included in the Global Innovation Index, according to a report released on Thursday by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a UN specialized agency.
According to the report, Moldova ranks fourth in the 27 countries in the group of middle-income countries, after Vietnam, Ukraine and Mongolia. Among the CIS member states, Moldova is advanced by the Russian Federation and Ukraine, ranked in positions 45 and 50, respectively.
On a scale from 0 to 100, Moldova obtained a score of 36.84 points out of 100, after WIPO analysts have evolved its innovative performance based on the analysis of 81 indicators such as institutions, political and business environment, regulatory framework, education, research and development, human capital and infrastructure. In 2016 Moldova had a better score of 38.39 points and ranked eight positions above than in 2017.
The results of Moldova are: institutions (72th place), human capital and research (59th place), infrastructure (82nd place), markets’ sophistication (62nd place), companies’ sophistication level (81st place), cognitive and technological activity results (52nd place) and creative outcomes (39th place).
Top 10 most innovative countries in the world include: Sweden, Switzerland, Holland, the USA, GB, Denmark, Singapore, Finland, Germany and Ireland.
At its tenth edition, the Global Innovation Index is an annual report released by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Cornell University and INSEAD.
