Chisinau, 16 June /MOLDPRES/ – The Pediatric Urology and Infantile Gynecology Units of the Mother and Child Institute were inaugurated with the financial support of the Romanian Government today.
The event was attended by Health Minister Ruxanda Glavan, Romanian Ambassador to Moldova, Daniel Ionita, General Director of the Mother and Child Institute, Sergiu Gladun, as well as representatives of the medical staff.
Health Minister Ruxanda Glavan said that “renovation of these sections is a very important achievement, as the hospital conditions in this medical institution were very poor. Now the sections meet all national and international standards, so we can provide medical services of quality. We thank the Romanian Government for its support,” said Glavan.
At his turn, Romania's ambassador to Moldova, Daniel Ionita, said that the works financed by the Romanian Government are part of the renovation, rehabilitation and endowment project with maternity equipment and the pediatric department of the Mother and Child Institute. “The whole project provides grants of €2.5 million. It started in early 2015 and is to be completed by the end of 2017,” said Ionita.
General Director of the Mother and Child Institute, Sergiu Gladun, said that the repairs of both sections started in August 2016, and the total amount of the investment is over 4.4 million lei. “The modern equipment is to be purchased, so we are sure that the quality of medical services will increase”, said Sergiu Gladun.
Yearly, within the Pediatric Urology Section, there are hospitalized about 1,400 children with kidney malformations and acquired diseases, while almost a thousand specialized surgeries are made. Also, the Infantile Gynecology Section was opened in 1985, being the only one of its kind in Moldova. Now, the department benefits from 20 beds, and annually there are treated approximately 700-800 patients, aged up to 18 years.
