Moldovan deputy foreign minister attends Global Remittances, Investments and Development Forum 2017

Chisinau, 17 June /MOLDPRES/-On June 15-16, 2017, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Daniela Morari, participated in the Global Remittance, Investment and Development Forum 2017 in New York, organized and promoted by the International Fund for Agricultural Development - IFAD, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry's information and media relations service has reported.
The Forum was opened by the new Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for International Migration, Louise Arbour and IFAD President, Gilbert F. Houngbo, who highlighted the importance of remittances and the impact of migration for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 United Nations Agenda.
At the IFAD's invitation, the Deputy Minister shared the Republic of Moldova's experience in migration, mobility and development as a speaker in the high-level panel and expressed Moldova's support for the International Remittances Day.
In this context, the following national remittance programs were mentioned: PARE 1 + 1, the diaspora involvement programs in the development of the community of origin, the programs for Migration and Local Development, as well as other successful experiences implemented within the Republic of Moldova-European Union Mobility Partnership.
The Deputy Minister underlined the efforts of the Moldovan Government to include in the national policies the topic of migration and development (both at national and local level), correlated with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, addressing all the challenges faced by Moldova on the way towards a democratic, inclusive and modern society.
