Moldovan deputy premier attends meeting of Eastern Partnership foreign ministers

Chisinau, 20 June /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur participated in the eighth meeting of Eastern Partnership Foreign Ministers on 19 June. Attending the event were EU High Representative Federica Mogherini and Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry's information and media relations service has reported.
The talks focused on opportunities to enhance cooperation within the Partnership in the context of the EaP Summit due on 24 November 2017 in Brussels. Also, a special attention has been given to considering proposals of the European Commission and European External Action Service of June 2017 on the priorities and key-goals to be achieved under the Eastern Partnership this year until 2020.
In his speech, Galbur referred to the need to promote the tangible results for the people, turning to good account the partnership’s instruments in order to achieve reforms, as well as to set strategic cooperation goals.
The officials expressed support for a number of concrete projects within the Eastern Partnership, such as extension of networks and development of transport infrastructure (TEN-T), examination of options for reducing roaming tariffs, consolidation of energy efficiency and expanding funding opportunities for small and medium enterprises.
Galbur informed about the reforms under development in Moldova, noting the country’s interest to deepen cooperation in the security and strategic communication.
Referring to the long-term prospects of the Eastern Partnership, the Moldovan official pointed out that the final declaration of the summit should be a visionary document that will set priorities not only for sectoral cooperation, but also in the political dialogue sector.
