Magistrates extend warrant of arrest for Chisinau mayor

Chisinau, 22 June /MOLDPRES/ – The magistrates of Buiucani District Court of Chisinau extended the home arrest warrant for Chisinau mayor Dorin Chirtoaca for another 25 days today.

Dorin Chirtoaca was present at the meeting and told the journalists that he had done nothing but to carry out his duties. “I did not make any kind of traffic of influence and I did nothing but fulfill my obligations, I hope I can convince the magistrates of this,” said Chirtoaca.

The Mayor of Chisinau was detained in late May by anti-corruption prosecutors and officers of the National Anticorruption Center (CNA) in the case of paid parking, suspected of influence of traffic.

Also today, the same court magistrates extended the arrest warrants for Igor Gamretki, the head of the General Directorate of Transport and Communications of Chisinau City Hall, the former municipal councilor Ghenadie Ivascenco and the Secretary of the Municipal Council, Valeriu Didencu.

Igor Gamretki will remain in custody for 30 days more, the term of detention applied to Ghenadie Ivascenco was extended for 25 days, and Valeriu Didencu was transferred from the isolator to home arrest for 30 days.

The officials of the capital city hall are investigated in the same case with the mayor.
