Moldovan PM, UN Population Fund's regional director set prospects for advancing in implementation of joint projects

Chisinau, 22 June /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip received Alanna Armitage, Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The officials appreciated the dynamic and constructive character of bilateral cooperation within 20 years and remarked further perspectives in implementing of common projects.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip expressed his gratitude for the UN support, including UNFPA, for promoting the right of man, woman and child to a healthy life with equal opportunities, and for supporting Moldova in the use of population data to develop policies and programmes.
The Prime Minister also welcomed the successful implementation of the UNFPA Country Program for Moldova 2013-2017. He expressed Government’s full opening for elaboration of the third Country Program of UNFPA-Moldova for 2018-2022, which is to be approved in September 2017 by the UNFPA Executive Council. Hereafter, Pavel Filip emphasized the interconnection between the support offered by international organizations and the successful implementation of the Reform Agenda: “I confirm the Government’s firm determination to continue the reform process. The range of issues is broad, and prioritization plays a key role in achieving the objectives. As such, the support provided by the development partners allows us to act within more sectors and to advance in the process of modernizing the country and securing the citizens’ welfare.”
At his part, Alanna Armitage congratulated the government for ambition and determination in reforms’ implementation, reiterating UNFPA’s willingness to continue to provide assistance to Moldova in priority social segments: gender equality, teen-agers and youth, sexual and reproductive health, demographic security etc.
