Chisinau, 23 June /MOLDPRES/ – The Prime Minister referred to the issue of the food quality sold in Moldova’s shops, at the beginning of today meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Pavel Filip mentioned the precedent of selling products with an expired term, underlining that some citizens, including journalists, are assaulted by the owners of shops to identify such cases. Hereafter, the Prime Minister stressed that securing consumer interests in food safety and quality is the Executive’s priority, and the National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) is the authority responsible for monitoring the situation in that area.
Referring to the above, the Prime Minister appealed to the ANSA, urging the start of controls in food shops, but also in child rest camps. The controls are to be conducted over a month to identify breaches in food marketing and to avoid risks to citizens’ health.
“I intend to ask you to do these checks, let us know what the results are and take actions with those who are trying to create these problems. Now we know precisely that if such situations happen, the ANSA will be the responsible institution,” said the PM.
