Foreigners to study at Moldovan education institutions based on new regulation

Chisinau, 23 June /MOLDPRES/ – The Cabinet of Ministers approved, at its meeting today, the regulation on the studies of foreigners in the education institutions of Moldova. The new provisions will help to increase the attractiveness of the national education system for foreign citizens and improve the provided educational services’ quality.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the approved document regulates the organization of studies of persons from other states, determining in detail the procedure for the admission of foreign citizens to general and vocational technical education institutions. However, in order to streamline the registration procedure, it was reduced the number of documents to be submitted to Education Ministry.
The regulation also sets the conditions for admission to higher education in Moldova for the bachelor, master and doctoral cycles and regulates the procedure for the transfer of foreign students, both from educational institutions abroad and within Moldova. The citizens of other states will be able to opt for study programs in Romanian or authorized international languages, admission being conditional on passing a language test.
The educational institutions providing educational services to foreigners will be responsible for the qualitative organization of the training process, the authenticity and veracity of acts in foreigners’ files submitted to the Education Ministry, the familiarization of persons admitted to studies with the legislation regarding the regime of foreigners in Moldova and the annual presentation of statistical reports on the number of strangers enrolled, according to regulation.
Currently, there are 4369 foreigners from 52 countries of the world which are enrolled in the educational institutions of Moldova.
