Tiraspol representatives continue sabotaging Joint Control Commission's work

16:23 | 23.06.2017 Category: Official

Chisinau, 23 June /MOLDPRES/ – A joint meeting of the Joint Control Commission (CUC) was held yesterday in Bender, which was chaired by the Moldovan delegation. Eight subjects were discussed at the meeting, the office for reintegration policies’ press service has reported.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Moldovan delegation reiterated the need to include on the agenda some stringent topics, namely:

1. Measures to be taken to ensure total military transparency in the Security Zone in accordance with the provisions of Agreement of 21.07.1992;

2. Making the CUC’s decision of 13 January 2017, on the review of the mechanism for monitoring the situation in the Security Zone (ZS);

3. The CUC’s decision of 13 April 2017 on the cancellation of restrictions imposed by the so-called structures from Tiraspol to the police officers from the Bender Police Inspectorate, who in April 2013 exercised their duties in a rogatory commission in the process of prosecuting a particularly dangerous offender.

The representatives of Tiraspol rejected all the topics proposed by the Moldovan side, expressing their disagreement with the approach of the mentioned problems.

We regret that the Transnistrian delegation’s non-constructive position is, again, to resort to the lack of logic of the initiators of the Moldovan side, aimed at solving the main problems on the agenda. Thus, the Transnistrian delegation sabotaged the previously assumed commitments, and therefore it led to the obvious establishment of a crisis situation in the Security Zone.

For these reasons, all items on the agenda were transferred for the next meeting to be held on 29 June 2017.

Also, when examining the weekly report in the Security Zone, the theme of the commemoration measures was discussed organized by the so-called administration of the region on 19 June 2017 in Bender, where for the first time as representatives of Military formations, participated the troops of “border guards” and “cossack army”. It should be mentioned that, according to the provisions of the Agreement on the peaceful settlement of the armed conflict in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova of 21 July 1992, the presence of such formations is illegal and inadmissible.

Moreover, the proposal of the Moldovan delegation to give an appreciation to these actions and to avoid such provocative measures in the future was rejected by Tiraspol exponents, tacitly assisted by the Russian Military Command of the Joint Forces of Pacification.

We note that such instigatory actions can undermine existing peacekeeping mechanisms, but also reconfirms the conviction that an international civilian inspection is needed to monitor the current situation in the ZS.
