Chisinau, 27 June /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) might announce Orange Code of heat for the next days, if the air temperatures exceed +37 - +38 Celsius degrees during the day.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the head of the SHS weather forecasts centre, Ghenadie Rosca, informed that the announcing of an eventual Orange Code of heat would be triggered by the air temperatures from the days to come. “If the air temperature exceed +37 - +38 Celsius degrees, as it is expected, on an area of at least 30 per cent of the country’s territory, then it is possible for the Orange Code of heat to be announced,” Rosca noted.
Referring to the possibility of rains with hail, the SHS representative said that this phenomenon depended on the temperatures on high, at the soil, as well as on the air humidity. “The higher the level of the atmospheric humidity is, the higher the risk of hail is. The last forecasts do not signal such dangers; yet, the situation may change,” Ghenadie Rosca said.
According to specialists, in case of the Orange Code, the meteorological conditions pose real danger, dangerous phenomena of high intensity are forecast (storms, thunderstorm rains, hail, heat, floods risk, etc.), which can negatively influence the social and economic activities and may cause substantial material damage and human victims. Data by the State Hydrometeorological Service shows that a record air temperature during summer was registered in August 2012, when an air temperature of +42.4 Celsius degrees was recorded.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, a press officer at the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service (SPCSE), Diana Tutu, informed that, starting from today, rescuers began setting anti-heat rehabilitation points. “Tents are to be set in all districts of the Moldovan capital, in Cahul, Balti, Autonomous Territorial Unit Gagauz-Yeri, other settlements and will work during 11:00-18:00. People feeling bad during heat will be able to benefit from water and qualified medical assistance,” Diana Tutu said.
At the same time, the SPCSE representative pointed to the exceptional danger of fire and warned the residents about observing the anti-fire security rules, and adults should take care of minors going to swim.
