Chisinau, 28 June /MOLDPRES/ - Chisinau mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, under home arrest, has signed an instruction, thereby demanding the convening of an extraordinary meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC).
The participants in the meeting are to consider a proposal by Chirtoaca to appoint the former environment minister, Valeriu Munteanu, and the head of the health department at the Chisinau city hall, Mihai Moldovanu, to the offices of deputy mayor.
Also, inter alia, the participants in the meeting will examine a request by the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office on the suspension from office of CMC secretary Valeriu Didencu, accused of corruption and influence peddling.
Chisinau general mayor Dorin Chirtoaca has been under home arrest, being suspected of influence peddling in the file of paid parkings. The present deputy mayor, Nistor Grozavu, is prosecuted in the same file. Yet, he is at large and fulfills his prerogatives at the Chisinau city hall.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the spokesman for the Chisinau city hall, Vadim Brinzaniuc said that “the instruction was signed at the home of the general mayor, as the legislation allows this.”
At the same time, Vadim Brinzaniuc noted that a CMC meeting would be held on 29 June. “The new secretary of the Council will be elected at one of the two meetings of the Council this week,” the spokesman for the Chisinau mayor added.
