Turkish citizen detained at Chisinau Airport after announcing of explosive holdings in baggage

Chisinau, 29 June /MOLDPRES/ – A Turkish citizen was detained by law enforcement officials after disrupting the Chisinau International Airport and lying that he had explosive holdings in his baggage on 28 June.
According to the Border Police info, during the procedure for registration of Chisinau – Istanbul passengers, the Turkish citizen told the passenger registration agent that he holded two kilos of explosive substances in his baggage. So as to amplify the situation, the man tried to frighten the passengers who were at that moment in the airport and shout about the possession of the explosive on him. Immediately the border guards were alerted, who isolated the Turkish citizen and his luggage.
The checks found that the alert was false. The Turkish citizen was detained and placed in the detention facility. He is 26 years old and is studying at one of the educational institutions in Chisinau.
The Criminal Investigation Officers within the Chisinau Border Police of the International Airport continue the investigations in order to determine the reason for the Turkish citizen's action, but also to take the necessary legal measures. If he is found guilty of deliberate false communication about the act of terrorism, the man risks a prison sentence of up to two years.
