European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety to visit Moldova

Chisinau, 29 June /MOLDPRES/ - A member of the European Commission in charge of health and food safety, Vytenis Andriukaitis, will pay an official visit to Moldova on 5-6 July.  

According to the press service of the European Union in Moldova, during the visit, the EU official is scheduled to have a meeting with Prime Minister Pavel Filip. At the same time, on 5 July, Vytenis Andriukaitis will meet Health Minister Ruxanda Glavan.    

On 6 July, Commissioner Andriukaitis will meet Deputy Agriculture and Food industry Minister Iurie Usurelu and the director of the National Agency for Food Safety, Gheorghe Gaberi. The goal of these meetings is to discuss Moldova’s progress in adjusting the national legislation to the EU one, as well as the stage of implementation of sanitary and phyto-sanitary commitments, in line with the EU- Moldova Association Agreement.   

On the same day, the European commissioner will meet members of the parliamentary commissions for agriculture and food industry and for social protection, health and family.  

Also, the Vytenis Andriukaitis will participate in a public event, during which he will have an open discussion with citizens on main up-to-date topics in the public health sector and food security.
