Following more than two hours of debates, it was been established that the Legal, Appointments and Immunities Commission will collect, analyze and synthesize all proposals from civil society and parliamentary and extra-parliamentary parties to improve the bill, as recommended by the Venice Commission.
The members of the Action and Solidarity Party, but also the Dignity and Truth Platform Party had announced before that they would not participate in the debates on changing the electoral system.
On 5 May 2017, the Legislature approved in the first reading two draft amendments to the electoral system – the PDM’s proposal on the introduction of the uninominal vote and PSRM’s one on the mixed vote. After consultations, the Legal, Appointments and Immunities Commission decided to merge the projects for the second reading.
