Moldova to get 200 thousand doses of flu vaccine from USA

Chisinau, 03 July /MOLDPRES/ – The Equine Vaccines Centre (EVC) of the United States of America will donate to Moldova 200 thousand doses of flu vaccine for the cold season 2017-2018. The donation is stipulated in an agreement signed between the Health Ministry and the EVC.
According to the health ministry’s public relations service, all 200,000 doses are certified by the World Health Organization. The preparations will be distributed to primary health care institutions that will organize the immunization process for people at risk groups.
According to the cited source, the chronically ill patients, medical workers, pregnant women, children from orphanages, elderly asylum-seekers, policemen, border guards, employees of the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service, Customs Service, social assistance institutions will benefit from vaccines.
The US EVC donated 150,000 doses of influenza vaccine to Moldova in 2015 and 200,000 doses in 2016. The immunized patients during this period did not have side effects.
The statistical data provided by the Health Ministry shows that 1,130 people were infected with flu in the cold season 2016-2017 and 628 of the patients were children up to 14 years of age.
