Moldovan Cabinet of Ministers supports granting meal vouchers for employees

Chisinau, 04 July /MOLDPRES/ – The executive approved the opinion on the bill on meal vouchers submitted by a group of MPs today. The document aims at motivating employees, increasing their incomes, and adopting healthier eating habits, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The draft law provides for the granting by employers of the individual food allowance for employees in the form of meal vouchers. Their value will be an extra net income for employees, of which no social security contributions, compulsory health insurance premiums and income tax on salary will be calculated.

The notice states that the employer is to distribute the meal vouchers to employees at the end of each month, based on the number of business days of the following month. Also, the employee will use a number of meal vouchers equal to the number of actual worked days. According to the project's authors, the value of a meal voucher will amount up to 45 lei, these ones being released both on paper and electronically.

According to the notice, the promotion of the draft law on meal vouchers requires consultation with trade unions and employers' organizations.
