Moldovan PM says, government reform aims to lay foundation for Moldova's development by creating strong institutions

Chisinau, 04 July /MOLDPRES/ – At the beginning of meeting of the Executive, Prime Minister Pavel Filip welcomed the adoption in the first reading by the Parliament of the Law on Government today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Similarly, the Prime Minister expressed his regret that the opposition parties, who claimed to be reforming and pro-European, came up with unsubstantiated criticisms of a reform elaborated with the European experts and with the support of high level EU advisers. "When we talk about reforms in different areas, either justice, banking system, business or the social environment, we need to understand that reforms need to be elaborated, and then implemented. How qualitatively they will be developed, so qualitatively will be found in people's perceptions. The Government reform aims to lay the foundation for the development of the Republic of Moldova by creating strong institutions," said Pavel Filip.

The PM also spoke about the importance of reforming the field of science and research, referring to the recent visit to the Institute of Genetics, Physiology and Plant Protection of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM). That institution has about 400 employees and has benefited of about 30 million lei annually, but the management of the institution leaves it to be desired. "Taking into account our financial capacity, we need to use this money as efficiently as possible. The genetic research is some of the most sophisticated and does not have to be done under the conditions we saw there," said Pavel Filip.

The Head of the Executive urged the ASM’s leadership to support the Government in promoting reform in that area, because Moldova has been in need of high level science and research.
