Parliaments of Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine adopt common declaration

Chisinau, 05 July /MOLDPRES/ – The Parliaments of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine ask the European Parliament to adopt a resolution to open the accession perspective for the three associated countries according to Article 49 of the European Union Treaty, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

The joint declaration was signed by the Parliament Speaker of Moldova, Andrian Candu, his Georgian counterpart, Irakli Kobakhidze and Andriy Parubiy, the President of the Verkhovna Rada. The European Parliament is urged to adopt a resolution before the Eastern Partnership Summit.

"Related to this ambitious future message, the Eastern Partnership Summit Declaration will launch a strong signal in the current tense geopolitical situation and become an inspirational tool for accelerating progress and further democratic transformation in the three partner countries associated to the EU", states the Declaration.

Considering that the EU has the ambition to be a solid and credible partner for its immediate neighbours from the East, "The Declaration following the EP Summit 2017 will express clear support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, as well as support the choice and European agenda of our countries," said the document undersigned by the three speakers.
