New law of integrity to come into force in Moldova

Chisinau, 06 July /MOLDPRES/ – The law on integrity will enter into force on 07 July after it will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova.
The document is part of the "integrity package" and is one of the commitments made to the European Union.
The new law regulates the field of integrity in the public sector at political, institutional and professional levels, the responsibilities of public entities, anticorruption authorities and other authorities competent to cultivate, strengthen and control integrity in the public sector.
The purpose of the document is to promote public integrity and a climate of zero tolerance of corruption within public authorities in Moldova. Also, the new law establishes compulsory measures to ensure and strengthen institutional and professional integrity, and encourages the denunciation of corruption by public officials and ensures their protection against revenge.
The new law will apply to the rights, duties and attributions of public officials, electoral competitors, public entities, responsible anticorruption authorities, other public authorities with specific competences, as well as individuals and legal entities in the process of interaction with the public sector, civil society and media.
