Polish government to support development of Moldovan cities by urban revitalization project

Chisinau, 06 July /MOLDPRES/ – The Polish Government will support the development of the cities of Moldova by means of a project to enhance the competences of local public authorities within urban development and revitalization. The launch of the project took place at the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction (MDRC) today.
In his speech at the opening of the event, Vasile Bitca, Minister of Regional Development and Construction, said that "the mayors’ offices will have the most benefit in this project with the new status of the municipality, according to the new legislation. The project will run in three stages. Initially, working groups will be created, including representatives of municipalities, regional development agencies and the MDRC. Then, local elected representatives and other specialists will be trained and will share the experience and good practice in the field of urban revitalization, and in the third stage will develop project concepts and participate in a competition to obtain funding from Government of Poland. For the first stage, about €200 thousand will be offered," said the minister.
At his part, Pawel Chorązy, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development of Poland, said that the project would be carried out during in 2017-2019 and would offer to the central and local public authorities of Moldova methodologies and European examples of program development, urban revitalization projects and enhancement of local skills.
