Moldovan deputy foreign minister receives Head of NATO Liaison Office to Moldova

Chisinau, 07 July /MOLDPRES/ – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Lilian Darii, has received today, 7 July 2017, the Head of NATO Liaison Office to the Republic of Moldova, Kristina Baleišytė, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
During the meeting the interlocutors had an exchange of views regarding Republic of Moldova - North Atlantic Treaty Organization cooperation and the objectives of the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP), which constitutes practical reflection of this cooperation.
Deputy Minister Darii reiterated the interest of our country in consolidating political dialogue and practical cooperation with the Alliance within Partnership for Peace framework. To this end, the opening of the NATO Liaison Office in Chisinau as a diplomatic representation with civilian experts from NATO member and partner countries will facilitate the bilateral cooperation, including the process of implementation of projects with Alliance’s support.
In this context, Deputy Foreign Minister expressed its gratitude for the assistance provided to our country in the reform of security and defence sector, as well as for the projects implemented in the framework of Science for Peace and Security Programme, etc.
Head of NATO Liaison Office stressed the availability of the Alliance to offer further the expertise and necessary assistance in the priority areas commonly agreed with the authorities of the Republic Moldova, in particular, those related to the capacity building in the strategic communication field and training of national experts.
Note: The Agreement establishing NATO Liaison Office in Chisinau was signed on 29 November 2016 on the occasion of the visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Pavel Filip to the NATO Headquarters and meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
