Moldovan speaker meets representatives of people’s assembly of Gagauzia

Chisinau, 10 July /MOLDPRES/ – We are interested in extending the cooperation between the Parliament and the People's Assembly of the ATU Gagauzia for the benefit of all the inhabitants of Moldova, said Parliament Speaker, Andrian Candu, in talks with the MPs of the People's Assembly of Gagauzia today, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
Andrian Candu said to be extremely important that cooperation topics to be directed towards increasing the well-being of people in the autonomy. He invited Members of the People's Assembly to be involved in the work of Parliament's committees and working groups when discussing major projects or impacting on autonomy. Also, the Speaker invited the Gagauzia’s members to participate in the composition of the official delegations travelling abroad.
The Speaker reiterated that there was a political will for the approval of the projects aimed at autonomy, referring to the working group for ensuring the functionality of the autonomous territorial unit Gagauzia and the legislative provisions of the Republic of Moldova in relation to the special status of the ATU Gagauzia under the constitutional norms. Andrian Candu reminded that the drafts developed within the working group were discussed both in committees and in a broader format of debates.
At their part, the members of the People's Assembly of ATU Gagauzia thanked the Speaker for the efforts in promoting the law drafts elaborated within the working group. Vladimir Kissa, the head of the People's Assembly of the ATU Gagauzia, said that autonomy was a part of the Republic of Moldova and appreciated that the members of Gagauzia being treated as equal partners by the Parliament’s leadership.
The working group with the People's Assembly of the ATU Gagauzia was formed, on the initiative of Speaker, Andrian Candu, in November 2015. The objective of the platform is the proximity of the regional and central authorities, as well as an additional mechanism for the inclusion of Gagauzia in Moldova’s modernization projects.
