Speaker says, re-launching of infrastructure projects being priority for Moldova

Chisinau, 10 July /MOLDPRES/ – The resumption of infrastructure projects is a priority for the authorities now, said Parliament Speaker, Andrian Candu, at the meeting with Francis Malige, EBRD Regional Director of Southeast Europe and Caucasus and Director of the EBRD Office in Moldova, Dimitri Gvindadze, today.
According to the parliament’s communication and public relations department, the parties reviewed the implementation steps of investment projects in the energy, banking and infrastructure sectors. The Speaker reiterated the interest of Moldova in implementing the construction projects of the Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline and the Isaccea-Vulcanesti-Chisinau interconnection line, which would let Moldova to connect, throughout Romania, to the community energy system.
The EBRD Regional Director of South Eastern Europe and Caucasus, Francis Malige, informed about the intention to approve a new national strategy for Moldova by the end of 2017.
The EBRD is the largest investor in Moldova with over €1.1 billion of investment within over 110 projects in agriculture business, energy, financial sector, infrastructure and industry. The EBRD also mobilizes significant foreign direct investment alongside its own funding.
