Chisinau, 10 July /MOLDPRES/ – The Government approved today the signing of Amendment I to the Memorandum of Understanding between the State Chancellery (CS) of Moldova and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SADC) on Program "Realizing the Migration Potential in the Republic of Moldova".
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the negotiations between the parties, Phase II of project "Strengthening the Institutional Framework of the Republic of Moldova in the Field of Migration and Development" (MIDIDOM) within the program "Realizing the Migration Potential in the Republic of Moldova" will be fully managed by the CS.
It is for the first time, that in the field of Diaspora, migration and development, the donor institution transfers the project management, including financially, directly to the beneficiary institution – the CS, becoming a unit of implementation.
The MIDIDOM project is carried out by the Diaspora Office (BRD) within the State Chancellery, which capacities were consolidated in the project’s first phase, allowing the CS throughout BRD to manage and implement the second phase of the MIDIDOM project itself. The project implementation will contribute to the realization of the national strategy "Diaspora-2025", consolidating the positive impact of the migration phenomenon on the socio-economic development of Moldova by strengthening the national and local institutional framework. It will also contribute to the involvement of Moldovan migrants in development of localities through the transfer of knowledge acquired abroad, as well as the creation of services for migrants and their families.
The MIDIDOM project has two consecutive phases lasting 24 months (August 2015 – July 2017) and 17 months respectively (August 2017 – December 2018). The first phase was carried out in partnership with the implementing agency – the International Organization for Migration, the mission in Moldova.
The initiative to submit the Amendment to the Memorandum belongs to the CS. The budget of MIDIDOM Phase II will amount to CHF 212,585 (Swiss francs). The Memorandum of Understanding between the CS and SADC on the Program "Realizing the Potential of Migration in the Republic of Moldova" was signed on 17 May 2016. The document establishes the legal framework for implementation of three projects – including MIDIDOM – which will help to implement national strategies in Migration.
The overall aim of these projects is to support the Government's efforts to strengthen the positive impact of migration on Moldova's development by strengthening the national and local institutional framework and by enhancing the commitment of the Diaspora. The other two projects are implemented by NEXUS Moldova and UNDP Moldova.
