International Monetary Fund’s leadership welcomes successes of Moldovan authorities

Chisinau, 11 July /MOLDPRES/ – Finance Minister, Octavian Armasu, and the National Bank’s (BNM) governor, Sergiu Cioclea, attend the regional conference "Re-launching convergence in Central and South-Eastern Europe", held in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The meeting discusses the need to accelerate structural reforms to support economic growth, strengthen state institutions and improve governance in the region states, the BNM 's press and communication service has reported.
At the conference, Octavian Armasu and Sergiu Cioclea kept bilateral meetings with IMF General Manager, Christine Lagarde, IMF Director of the European Department, Poul Thomsen and Executive Director of the IMF, Anthony de Lannoy. The officials discussed the progress made in implementing the program of Moldova with the IMF, as well as the next steps and challenges.
The IMF leadership welcomed the successes of the authorities and stressed the importance of continuing to implement the reform agenda agreed under the program.
The Dubrovnik Conference takes place on 10-11 July, with the participation of finance ministers and central bank governors in Central and South-Eastern Europe.
