Moldova, Czech – Slovak Federal Republic mark 25 years of diplomatic relations

Chisinau, 13 July /MOLDPRES/ – Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister, Lilian Darii, participated in the stamp launch with special obliteration "25 years of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic" and personalized trademarks with the representation of the maps and stems of both states, on 12 July, on occasion of the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The event took place at the National History Museum of Moldova, bringing together members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of national institutions.
Deputy Minister, Lilian Darii, mentioned that the diplomatic relations established on 01 June 1992 with the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic provided opportunities for the peoples of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and the Republic of Moldova to develop people-to-people contacts and business communities in the three states to promote economic cooperation and bilateral trade. The Moldovan official noted that the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic was among Moldova’s important trading partners, representing significant sales outlets. The political dialogue has developed very well, with more reciprocal visits over the recent years, which set a new basis for development of further relations.
The Moldovan diplomat underlined that the experience of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic was quite relevant for Moldova, especially regarding the European path, noting that Moldova would make the necessary efforts to move that direction. The development assistance provided by the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic has been also very much appreciated by Moldovan authorities, but especially by the citizens of Moldova.
At his part, Czech Ambassador Zdeněk Krejčí mentioned Moldovan-Czech cooperation first in Czechoslovakia and then in the Czech Republic, initiated with the visit of Ruler Mihai Viteazul (Michael the Brave) to Prague (in 1601) and the appearance of the first Czech colonists in Moldova, in century XIX, which settled predominantly in the south of Moldova, in Huluboaia village. The Czech diplomat wished that the Moldovan-Czech relations would grow more intensively over the following 25 years.
The Ambassador of the Slovak Republic, Robert Kirnag, appreciated the positive evolution of Moldovan-Slovak relations, noting the mutual support granted within international organizations and the assistance provided by the Slovak Republic to the Republic of Moldova.
Moldova established diplomatic relations with the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic on 01 June 1992.
