Seven highly-qualified experts from Moldova's Diaspora to be leaders of Diaspora's Excellence Groups

Chisinau, 13 July /MOLDPRES/ - A meeting on the selection of leaders of a pilot programme, Diaspora’s Excellence Groups (DEG), took place at the government today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The participants in the meeting, implementers of the programme, representatives of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Diaspora Relations Bureau at the State Chancellery, jointly with Government Secretary General Lilia Palii and the PM’s advisers have selected the following candidates:
1. Victor Baiesu, the Hague, the Netherlands. Master of European comparative law, legal adviser at the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, the Hague, the Netherlands.
2. Doina Ciobanu, California, the USA, specialist in molecular biology, researcher at the Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory.
3. Svetlana Cranga Janaudy, Marseilles, France, specialist in economics and management of organizations for innovation and intellectual property, regional engineer for sales and exports at Fives Pillard.
4. Dorin Dusciac, Paris, France, specialist in nuclear physics and international relations, PhD in physics, engineer researcher at the Henri Becquerel National Laboratory.
5. Ala Mîndîcanu, Quebec, Canada, the founder and chairwoman of the association Moldovans’ Community from Quebec, with education in economics.
6. Marcel Tibirnac, Bucharest, Romania, PhD in environmental sciences, ecologist at the environment consultancy Ltd.
7. Ian Vasilovski Toma, Virginia/Washington, the USA, specialist in biochemistry and molecular genomics, professor at the Medical Clinic of the Washington University.
The DEG programme implies the creation of five Excellence Groups led by highly-qualified experts from the Diaspora. The groups are made based on priority sectors for Moldova’s government, which were announced with the launch of an appeal on the reception of files, on 23 May 2017.
The Diaspora Excellence Groups will work on proposals of public policies and on certain projects established by common agreement with representatives of the Moldovan cabinet. The preliminary results will be presented at the Diaspora Days 2017.
The programme Diaspora Excellence Groups is carried out within the project, Consolidation of Moldova’s Development Capacities through Creation of partnerships between Diaspora and Origin Country. The project is financed by the IOM Development Fund and implemented by IOM, Moldova’s mission, in partnership with the Moldovan Education Ministry.
