Republic of France celebrates National Day

Chisinau, 14 July /MOLDPRES/ – The Republic of France celebrates the National Day, today.
The celebration is celebrated in the context of special security measures, commemorating at the same time a year from the terrorist attack that resulted in the death of 86 persons and injuring hundreds more. The honour ceremony is attended by US President Donald Trump.
France has an area of 643,801 square kilometers and a population of 66.7 million people. The Republic of France engaged in the construction of the European Union from the 1950s. It is a nuclear power, one of five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and a NATO member. France is also a member of the G7, G20, of the euro area, and hosts the Council of Europe, the European Parliament and UNESCO.
France is the second European economic power and the fifth world economic power.
The diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of France were established on 11 March 1992. The Ambassador of France to Moldova is Pascal Vagogne, since 2015, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in the Republic of France – Lilian Moraru, since 2015.
Between January and November 2016, the total trade volume with France amounted to $120.9 million (export – $38.3 million, import – $82.6 million). France ranks the 11th position among the partners with which Moldova maintains trade relations: the 13th in the top of the countries where Moldova exports goods and the 11th in the top of the countries from which Moldova imports goods.
The main French-owned enterprises operating in Moldova are: Orange, Cement Factory Lafarge, Kazayak Vin, Fabbri-Inox, Lactalis, Mobiasbanca Groupe Société Génerale.
