UN, World Bank support Moldovan government in nationalization of Sustainable Development Goals

Chisinau, 17 July /MOLDPRES/ - Government Secretary General Lilia Palii today had a meeting with a joint delegation UN-World Bank, on an evaluation mission to Chisinau, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

During 17-21 July, the delegation members will assess the progress and constraints in the process of adaptation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the national context, which will be taken into account, first and foremost, in the process of working out the national development strategy Moldova 2030.   

Lilia Palii stressed the importance of the evaluation underway, emphasizing that the integration of SDGs in the national strategic planning documents represented a key priority of the government. At the same time, Palii referred to the actions preceding the elaboration of the National Sustainable Development Strategy Moldova 2030, underlining the need to widely consult all the concerned actors: “It is important that the entire process of strategic planning be carried out not only at the level of public institutions, but also all the society should be involved in the process of establishing the national priorities.”   

Also, the discussions at the meeting were focused on the role of the State Chancellery in the process of planning, working out and implementation of policies nationally and strengthening the institution’s capacities, in the context of the public administration reform.    

On the days to come, the delegation will organize a string of meetings with representatives of the central public administration authorities, academic environment, private sector and development partners. On 21 July, the mission will end with a workshop, during which the findings and recommendations on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Moldova will be unveiled.
