Salaries of teaching staff to be increased from 01 September 2017 in Moldova

Chisinau, 19 July /MOLDPRES/ – The negotiation commission of the Government and the Trade Unions’ Federation of Education and Science had a new meeting today, led by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The parties discussed the problems of the education system and the possibilities of overcoming them. Among the main issues, there were the under level payment of teachers, the poor quality of teaching staff training, the exodus of teachers.
The Prime Minister mentioned that a complex approach to the problems in the branch was required, namely: implementation of the salary reform and reforming the education sector, so that it to become an efficient one.
Following discussions, the parties agreed to increase the salaries of teachers in general and vocational-technical education by 11.3 per cent, commencing 01 September 2017. The amount of financial resources required to ensure that salary increase for teachers for 03 months of 2017 is estimated at around MDL 94 million.
According to the data of the National Bureau of Statistics (BNS), the average monthly salary is 5,600 lei for 2017.
