Moldovan deputy premier thanks German ambassador for support provided for Transnistrian settlement

Chisinau, 19 July /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Balan and German Ambassador to Moldova Ulrike Knotz today had a meeting on the end of the diplomat’s mandate in Chisinau, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
On this occasion, Gheorghe Balan thanked the ambassador for providing constant support, maintaining good relations between Moldova and Germany and active involvement in the Transnistrian settlement process, in the context of exercising the OSCE Chairmanship in 2016.
Also, the deputy prime minister informed the German diplomat about the latest developments in the negotiating process. He referred, in particular, to the situation of the Latin-script schools from the Transnistrian region, problem of farmlands placed beyond the Ribnita-Tiraspol highway, the subject of vehicles with registration plates from the Transnistrian region, etc. Gheorghe Balan stressed that the Moldovan authorities would continue making maximum efforts, in the long run too, in order to identify tangible solutions to the problems faced by economic agents and the residents from the left bank of Dniester.
For her part, Ulrike Knotz noted that her country would further back Moldova in the process of promotion of reforms and identifying ways of advancement in the Transnistrian problems.
In the end of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Balan wished Ulrike Knotz success in the activity due to be carried out in continuation.
