Chisinau, 20 July /MOLDPRES/ - Fifty four MPs voted for a draft law on meal vouchers in the final reading today.
The initiative belongs to Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu.
The document sees the creation of an additional mechanism of social protection of wage earners by providing meal vouchers. The sum will be a supplement to the basic salary and its value will be indexed annually, depending on the inflation.
The meal vouchers could be used in canteens, coffee houses, restaurants or to buy food products in commercial and public nourishment units.
The employer is to distribute to wage earners the meal vouchers at the end of each month, proceeding from the number of working days of the month before. At the same time, the wage earner is to use a number of vouchers equal at the most to the number of days actually worked. The nominal value of a meal voucher will be 45 lei; the vouchers will be issued on paper and electronically. They can be used exclusively by the wage earner and the exchange of meal vouchers against money or the diminution of the salary is banned.
The system has been working starting from 1954 in more European, among which Italy, France, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania.
