Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ – The National Vine and Wine Office (ONVV) forecasts for 2017 a global grape harvest of 10-15 per cent higher than in 2016. The forecasts were announced during the presentation by ONVV, together with its strategic partner, the Project of Competitiveness in Moldova, funded by the US Agency for International Development and the Government of Sweden, of three viticulture projects.
The spring snow had not influenced negatively the growth and development of the grapevine. The phytosanitary status of the vineyard plantations as a whole is normal, in most cases, no cases have been found that they are affected by the main cryptogamic diseases, notes the National Vine and Wine Office.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics’ (BNS) data, the global grape harvest per hectare amounted to 615 thousand tons in 2016, 3 per cent above the level of 2015. The average yield per hectare was 46.9 quintals, compared with 45.6 in 2015.
