Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - Ambassador of Russia to Moldova Farit Mukhametshin today was summoned to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE), in connection with the scheduled events occasioned by the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the peacekeeping operation in Moldova’s Transnistrian region.
The MAEIE information and media communication service has reported that the Russian ambassador, in particular, was repeatedly warned about the inopportuneness to unilaterally organize events dedicated to this anniversary, with the participation of artists and official delegations from Russia. In this respect, decision-makers invoked the fact that such actions can harm the Moldovan-Russian relations. Or, Chisinau wants these relations be friendly, of mutual trust and respect.
In this context, MAEIE invoked also numerous petitions by Moldovan authorities on turning the present peacekeeping operation at Dniester, which fulfilled its tasks long ago, into a multinational civilian mission with international mandate. The ministry’s decision-takers are firmly sure that this will contribute to strengthening the confidence and the creation of a friendly atmosphere for the process of political settlement of the Transnistrian conflict.
