Moldovan government to further back children, young people from eastern districts

Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s authorities, according to earlier practices, for the 2017 summer organize free of charge summer leisure in Moldovan camps for teenagers with residence in settlements from the Security Zone and the ones from the left bank of Dniester, as well as graduates of education institutions from the region, subordinated to the Education Ministry, will benefit from education scholarships. The concerned actions are financed from the state budget and fit into the priorities of the government’s goal of Moldova’s reintegration, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.   

Thus, according to the good organization of teenagers’ summer leisure in the 2017 summer season, according to provisions by the Government Decision No 321 from 24 May 2017, 3,000 tickets were bought for pupils from the general education institutions of Moldova’s eastern districts and Bender municipality, subordinated to the Education Ministry, as well as 100 tickets for children from education institutions of Moldova’s eastern region and Bender city. The spending for the return tickets to the destination was covered and services were provided for leisure and recovery of health at summer camps from Moldova.  

Also, in 2017, the cabinet provided for placed with budgetary financing and planned 269 places with special purpose for candidates graduates from the Transnistrian region for admission in university education institutions for higher decree education. Graduates of pre-university education institutions from Moldova’s eastern districts and Bender city, including graduates of lyceums who studied under the syllabi approved by the Moldovan Education Ministry, as well as the graduates of the lyceums born in the settlements situated in the perimeter of the administrative line nearby the Dniester river will be able to run for these places.

As much as 40 per cent of the 269 places will be provided to graduates of the pre-university education institutions from Moldova’s eastern districts and Bender city, who studied according to the education syllabi approved by the Moldovan Education Ministry, as well as graduates born in the aforementioned settlements, who studied in the lyceums placed in the perimeter of the administrative line nearby the Dniester river and 60 per cent will be provided to graduates of the pre-university education institutions from the Transnistrian region, who studied according to the syllabus of the school of 11 forms.  

A separate contest will be organized at each admission quota provided. The selection of candidates will be made in the descending order of the average marks given at the contest.

The graduates of the lyceums from Moldova’s eastern districts and the Bender city, who studied according to the syllabi approved by the Moldovan Education Ministry, as well as the graduates born in the Transnistrian region, who studied at the lyceums placed in the perimeter of the administrative line nearby the Dniester river, can also participate in a contest for the 15-per cent quota, established under the point 40 of the framework regulation on the organization of admission to the cycle I – degree higher education for the academic year 2017-2018, approved under the Education Ministry’s order No 272 from 2 May 2017.    

At the distribution of matriculation places according to the quota, the higher education institutions will operate with the number of places distributed for each specialty, which remained after the allocation of the places meant for the candidates from Moldova’s eastern districts and the Bender municipality.  

In the lack of requests on behalf of eligible candidates, the uncovered places will be redistributed, at an additional session, to candidates participating in the general contest.

At the same time, by continuing the practices initiated in 2011, under the cabinet decision No 584 from 24 July 2017 on the approval of the programme of activities on Moldova’s reintegration for the 2017 year, decision-makers approved providing one-off material assistance to those eight Latin-script education institutions from the Transnistrian region, amounting to 600,000 lei, 75,000 lei to each institution, in order to ensure their good work and for their technical and material modernization.   

Such actions, backed by the Moldovan government, fit into initiatives which help strengthen trust between the residents from the two banks of Dniester, support joint activities in the education sector, fulfill the positive commitments towards the rights and freedoms of children and young people, as well as re-establish the single area in the education field.
