Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Customs Service has informed that, beginning with 31 July 2017, the movement through the Palanca customs checkpoint, south-eastern Moldova, would be limited, because of the carrying out of works on reconstruction of the joint border checkpoint.
The restrictions refer to the transport means with the capacity of more than 3.5 tons and the mini-buses exceeding 22 places, which will be redirected to the Tudora customs checkpoint. At the same time, the Palanca customs checkpoint will remain functional for other types of transport, which will pass through a temporary border checkpoint.
The Customs Service noted that the extension and modernization of the Palanca border checkpoint was carried out within a project financed by the European Union, co-financed by the Moldovan government and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme. Under the project, the works ate to be finished till late 2018.
The establishment of the joint control at this border checkpoint is aimed at easing the cross-border traffic flow, as well as at ensuring a better transparency in the process of carrying out controls.
