Moldovan drivers with aggressive behavior in traffic to be fined

Chisinau, 28 July /MOLDPRES/ - Drivers showing an aggressive behavior in road traffic will be fined, according to amendments which entered into force today.
The amendments are aimed at enhancing the road traffic’s security.
The document describes as aggressive behavior manoeuvres in the traffic which groundlessly create obstacles to movement and jeopardize the rights of other participants in the traffic.
For showing an aggressive behavior, drivers run the risk of getting fines between 1,500 and 2,000 lei and five penalty points or non-remunerated work in favour of the community during 20-40 hours or contravention arrest for a period of up to 15 days, in all cases with or without the deprivation of the right to drive for a term from six months to one year.
The current amendments were published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 28 April 2017 and entered into force today.
Data by the Interior Ministry shows that 90 per cent of accidents occur through the fault of drivers, because of exceeding the speed limit, ignoring the road signs and markings and driving drunk.
