Online platform of management in education launched in Moldova

Chisinau, 28 July /MOLDPRES/ - An Information System of Management in Education (SIME) today was launched in Moldova by the Education, Culture and Research Ministry. SIME is the first online platform providing access to data from education.
The Information System of Management in Education is a project initiated by the Education Ministry, in partnership with the Centre of Information and Communication Technologies in Education, district education departments and schools from Moldova. The programme was worked out, in order to automate the processes of collection, updating and stocking data on the general education in Moldova. The SIME data is used by decision-makers at the institutional, district/municipal and national levels for strategic planning, monitoring the education, identifying children who abandoned the school, children at risk and those with special education needs.
At the launch event, Education, Culture and Research Minister Monica Babuc said that this programme represented a valuable step for the development of the education system from Moldova. “Presently, it is very important that we keep the pace with the new technologies, especially in the education system, so that the authorities, teachers and parents have quick access to information. I am sure that this project will witness a continuous development and will contribute to the enhancement of powers in the management of the education system,” Babuc noted.
Project manager Elena Cernei said that SIME would enhance the strengthening of the quality and use of decisions on management in the education sector statistics at different levels. “The project will promote friendly environment for the social responsibility in the education sector in Moldova, by opening access to data. SIME has been earlier elaborated, in order to monitor the non attendance of school and collect data on pupils, employees and institutions which are part of the pre-university education. Subsequently, decision-makers ruled to improve the programme and extend the fields in which it is used, in order to get comprehensive, updated information, with a minimum degree of error,” Cernei said.
The project was implemented due to a grant worth 365,000 dollars, provided by the World Bank.
