Chisinau, 30 July /MOLDPRES/ – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova condemns the launch of a ballistic missile conducted by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on 28 July 2017. This action, which came shortly after the North Korean ballistic test of 04 July 2017, has generated a new escalation of tensions in the Korean Peninsula and representing a major challenge to the global peace, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The continuation of similar actions by the North Korean authorities constitutes a violation of several UN Security Council resolutions, including the Resolution 2321 adopted in November 2016.
The Republic of Moldova fully shares the deep concerns of the international community that those actions are destabilizing the security situation in the Korean peninsula and adjacent regions and urges the authorities in Pyongyang to renounce the nuclear weapons policy and to reengage in a credible political dialogue with the international community.
