Chisinau, 31 July /MOLDPRES/ - Ukraine will provide Moldova with additional 10,000 authorizations for goods transport on its territory. The concerned decision was agreed upon at a meeting of the Moldovan-Ukrainian working group in the transports sector, held in Chisinau in late last week.

The issue of transit authorizations is an older one; in August 2016, the transit of Moldovan goods across the territory of Ukraine was ceased for a while namely because the number of authorizations provided by Kiev had exhausted. To prevent this situation, the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry (MEI) demanded the supplementing of these documents ahead of the season.

According to a MEI’s press release, the participants in the meeting analyzed also the situation on the functionality of the Unguri-Bronnitsya bridge, at the border between Moldova and Ukraine. Experts found out that this object was ready to be opened for use by vehicles and busses. Also, the Ukrainian side proposed to Moldovan colleagues to send a joint addressing to development partners on the financing of a feasibility study of the functionality of the railway segment Basarabeasca-Berezino, which would allow Moldovan freight trains reach ports from southern Ukraine. About 20 km of railway on the territory of Ukraine and 1.5 km on the one of Moldova are to be re-established in all.

The sides also agreed that the Aviation Authorities of Moldova and Ukraine hold a meeting in the nearest future, in order to give final touches to technical aspects of the text of an Agreement on air services, as a result of which the air transport between Moldova and Ukraine will be liberalized.
