Chisinau, 2 August /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved a draft decision, according to which a fee worth more than 190,000 euros will be paid to the law firms and the expert who will defend the interests of the state in connection with two arbitrary litigations brought against Moldova.
The state’s interests will be represented by the company KPMG Advisory SRL (Ltd) (Romania), the law firm Skadden (Germany) and an expert, Tobias Tröger, professor of law at the Institute of Private- and Business Law of the Goethe University from Frankfurt (Germany). The contracted companies and expert will provide expertise services, in order to prepare for the arbitration court session.
The actions against Moldova at the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce were brought by the firms Evrobalt and Kompozit for an alleged violation of provisions of the Agreement between the government of Moldova and the government of Russia on mutual promotion and protection of investments. The claimant complained that it had made an investment in a Chisinau-based bank; subsequently, however, the National Bank found out that the claimant acted jointly with other stockholders and was obliged to sell the shares held.
