Moldovan state tax service warns on deadline for paying first real estate tax rate expires on 15 August

Chisinau, 09 August /MOLDPRES/ – The State Tax Service (SFS) announces that 15 August 2017 is the last day provided by the legislation in force, where taxpayers can pay the first real estate and land tax rate for the fiscal year 2017.
The persons who will not pay in real estate tax will pay a penalty for each day of delay of 0.0384 per cent of the amount of tax on real estate property.
According to data previously released by the SFS, 75 pe rcent of the property owners fully paid the tax up to 30 June and thus benefited from a 15 per cent reduction in the amount of the calculated tax. As a result, the State Tax Service accumulated MDL 315.5 million to the national public budget from the taxes paid by the individuals as a real estate tax. The plan set for 2017 is MDL 426.2 million.
The taxpayers who have not taken advantage of the 15 per cent reduction are obliged to pay the real estate tax and/or land tax in equal parts no later than 15 August – 15 October 2017.
According to the Fiscal Code, the maximum rate of tax on residential real estate, garages and the land on which they are located, the lots of orchards with or without constructions located on them are 0.4 per cent of the tax base of the real estate, and the share minimum 0,05 per cent. For agricultural land with construction located on them, the maximum share is 0.3 per cent of the tax base of real estate, and the minimum 0.1 per cent. The actual quota is established annually by the local public administration.
For 2017, the maximum tax rate for residential real estate was increased from 0.3 per cent to 0.4 per cent, and for real estate other than residential or agricultural property from 0.1 per cent to 0, 3 per cent.
