Government of Moldova adopts national program for social inclusion of people with disabilities for 2017-2022

Chisinau, 10 August /MOLDPRES/ – The Cabinet of Ministers approved the National Program for Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities for 2017-2022, today, which provides for an inter-sectorial approach to the social inclusion of this category of people and to ensure respect for their fundamental rights equally with other citizens in all areas of social life.
The development of the program was driven by the problems faced by people with disabilities and the need to create indispensable conditions for implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, states a statement of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Protection.
According to the document, social protection measures for people with disabilities will be improved, children and young people with disabilities will have access to quality education in educational institutions, access to health services, empowerment and rehabilitation will be increased, to employment and access to infrastructure and transport will be ensured.
The Program’s effective implementation will ensure respect for the rights and participation of people with disabilities in society, create better opportunities for social inclusion, thus contributing to the achievement by Moldova of the national and international commitments assumed in the context of the strategic objectives in the field of human rights assurance.
