Music festival revives after five years in Moldova

Chisinau, 11 August /MOLDPRES/ – The Union of Musicians of Moldova (UMM) announced the pre-selection for the 21st edition of the Festival for the Creation and Interpretation of romance Crizantema de Argint (The Silver Chrysanthemum). The pre-selection will take place on 18 – 19 August 2017, and the festival will be held in the National Philharmonic Serghei Lunchevici in Chisinau on 03-05 October 2017.
The event is organized by the UMM in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC).
Interviewed by the agency, Vice-President of Moldovan Music Union, Leonid Gorceac, said that the purpose of the contest has been to highlight and launch the most representative talents in the Romanian romance, highlighted by exceptional qualities of voice, interpretative virtues, musicality and genre knowledge.
According to the cited source, there will participate lyrical artists of all categories, students of artistic education institutions, other young talents, with or without specialized training, from Moldova and abroad, who pay the participation fee at pre-selection and are 18 years of age on the day of the contest. The application deadline is 17 August 2017. The registration fee for pre-selection is MDL 100 (for foreign competitors – €05).
"The candidates at the interpretation section will present five romances for the choir at the pre-selection, one of which, necessarily, of a contemporary native composer. The foreign contestants have to send the material in audio format. Two pieces written in the genre of romance, written in 2016-2017, previously unpublished and not attended to other contests, are to be accepted at the creation section. They can be presented in audio format," said Leonid Gorceac.
The jury includes conductors Petre Neamtu and Gheorghe Sevcisin, Artists of the People, art master Galina Pislaru, emeritus artist Igor Rusu and others.
This Festival-Contest for Creation and Interpretation was launched in 1992. The last edition of the 20th festival took place in 2012. For five years the organizers were looking for financial means. They were among the winners of the cultural projects of the public associations in 2016, organized by the Ministry of Culture.
